moments

last night we double dated with meg + dave on broadway (tavern tuesday date night is such a steal— 2 apps + 2 entrees + 1 dessert + 1 bottle of wine = 28$). say what?! yep. and the best part of it is– it’s sticking around all summer! but, unfortunately the price is going up to 38$. but still– it’s a great deal and we dig it.

before dinner– ian, clem and i were sitting on the couch filling each other in about our days (it think it’s safe to say clementine’s day won– food & naps).

the candles were on– the lights were low– and the faintest noise of rain was hitting the windows. and it’s times like these that my little darn heart just smiles (if that’s possible) because during these moments i consider myself the luckiest. i just adore these two so much:

and just as i was secretly getting out my camera– clementine rested her head on ians shoulder and let out the loudest most adorable ‘sigh’ and once again… my heart melted.

i love you more and more everyday.

things to look forward to: the crockpot– and the fact that it’s on low right now with the chicken, beans and tomatoes all getting to know each other. dinner is going to be dandy…. and that glass of wine with it.

oh la la– wednesday has been pleasant!

enjoy your day xx

champagne + a sea food tower

it’s monday evening and i can’t help but urn for the weekend. i know, i know– it just ended. but, this weekend was so sweet to us. after work i sat down (country music playing — glass of malbec in hand) and flipped through the pictures on my camera. and before you knew it– this girl was smiling ear to ear. ahhh yes, the viking.

saturday (around 4pm) mariam and i walked across the street to one of our favorite spots in town– the viking. it’s a gorgeous brick mansion with a fabulous bar/restaurant inside. and since it’s so convenient– i’m proud to say, we’re on a first name basis with the work staff.

mariam ordered the sea food tower (all to her self: i don’t eat sea food) and i opted for a cup of french onion soup (because it’s my favorite + it was raining + it felt right). post first course? creme brulee and a cheese plate. to say we feasted like a king and queen would be putting it lightly. and we did it right– because it was saturday and we were together and we needed it. and so, we did it.

a case of the mondays

this morning we were exhausted. we felt the effects of the weekend a tad too much today. but looking back—i don’t think we would have changed a thing. most weekends we wake up early– we’ve sipped our coffee by 8am and strolled around our town with clem by 9. by the time 10:00 rolls around–we’re hard at work. (well, let’s face it—ian’s hard at work on the weekend. I am mostly with my family or sipping a mimosa).

this weekend was different though- saturday morning at 10am = Zzz’s were still being caught and we had no problem skipping our saturday morning ritual of coffee and dog walks. but because we spoiled ourselves with some extra sleep– we decided to  keep that ball rolling and indulge the whole afternoon. as in, we trotted down to clarke cooke house (with kelsey!) and ate lunch (that tasted like gold). afternoons like that are my favorite– no agenda, no plans and no where to be. i think it is safe to say we can toss that up in the ‘dream day’ category.

and now it’s monday and we’re getting ready to eat a turkey sandwich (let be real– that may or may not taste like grass). oh what i would give for it to be saturday, again.

but that’s why we work so hard– so we can enjoy those special weekend days.

things to look forward to: speghetti squash for dinner, a less crazy lab week and a treasure from california. (my sister is off to sanoma valley with her girlfriends for a week of wining + dining. the term ‘jealous’ doesn’t even do it justice).

4 months

4 months ago i was lucky enough to score a wonderful (cannon rebel) camera for christmas. and it has taken me FOUR months to upload pictures– i’m the worst! but with a busy lab, endless lazy nights and the convenience of my iphone– it’s taken me this long. these pictures have been from the past two (or so) weeks that depict the things that make me smile. family, my puppy, wine, thames street kitchen and of course– genuine laughter. cheers to more use of this camera– and the wonderful imagines that come along with it.

food for thought

we seriously can NOT wait for this week to be over. friday is the start of newport restaurant week (spring 2014 edition)! it’s basically like a holiday that lasts all week. here’s the skinny: newport eatery’s (and the surrounding areas) have a 3 course pre-fixed menu for super cheap. you get one appetizer, one entree and one dessert all for $35! our first stop: TSK.

i urge you all to go! check out the menus —> here <—

so in the mean time… we will be day dreaming of fancy meals and good conversation.
